There are approximately 730 disadvantaged 3 – 14 year old children who attend Riversands Primary School, many of whom come to school with an empty tummy.
Changing Lives Ministries (registration No 028-247-NPO), moved by the plight of these young children started a feeding project which now boasts a self sustaining vegetable garden, a fully equipped kitchen and, since November 2005, a delicious meal prepared and served to all the children on Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays thanks to various donations and the help of more than 20 volunteers.
Currently Changing Lives is feeding the children three times a week but with our teambuilding feeding experiences and your contribution we have a vision of feeding these children a nutritious, home cooked meal EVERY school day.
We do corporate team builds, where teams of up to 20 can come and experience the joy of giving by setting up, cooking for and feeding these precious children.
Not only does CLM feed over 700 children three times a week, we also support a children’s home in Diepsloot for abused or abandoned children. Currently, one of the older children is studying at Pretoria University – a huge step from where he came.

You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. Psalm 145:16 Reaching out to faithful women who look after pre-school children. We offer basic and solid Christian educational material and activities to assist in growing young minds. We currently service 14 pre-schools, with many more needing our assistance. Please support this vital ministry by donating paper (any paper, just need one side to be blank), old magazines, plastic sealable tubs for paint, glue and play-dough. Please contact Anne Theunissen on 072 790 4385 if you would like to know more or would like to assist in any way.

Hands of Joy teaches arts and crafts twice a week to approximately 80 Grade 7 children at Riversands Primary School. The importance of being able to express oneself creatively is great, and this expression allows children to be free to reveal their emotions through artistic activities. Hands of Joy has an ongoing need for material to support the arts and crafts, and volunteers. There is a specific need currently for volunteer help on Friday mornings, from 10:00 to 11:30. For more information and how you can help, please contact Jill Wade on (011) 807 1214 or 082 488 5999.
